Wake Up Freud, Christmas Is Over!
December 26th 2007 11:02
December 26, 2007.
It's a strange time of year, isn't it? We spend weeks, if not longer, planning for Christmas festivities. Where to go? Who to invite or omit? What presents to dish out this year? The list is endless, but the actual event is over in a flash. And for what? A tummy-expansion that will take more than a Californian bushfire to burn off. Come Boxing Day and we’re all too stuffed to do anything more constructive than sit on the couch and watch the damn cricket.
It's also a time of year when the masses take the foot of the media pedal, so to speak, and relax into a nice comfortable state of oblivion. A case of unconsciousness that even Freud would stand to attention to. After a year-long election campaign I suppose our brains are entitled to a small break... yes, there's your break - now snap back into reality!!
I’m a young writer based in Sydney and I will be posting my slightly-to-the-left opinions on Australian society and culture, focusing on political and social happenings. I’m not entirely sure how frequently I will post bloggings; who can be certain of anything? All I can say is that I’m fairly certain the future will elucidate all. As Bob Dylan said; “yesterday's just a memory, tomorrow is never what it's supposed to be.
