Kabul Blast, No Aussies Injuried

January 15, 2008.
In breaking news, Taliban militants have carried out a gun and grenade attack on a luxury hotel housing the Australian Embassy in the Afghan capital, Kabul.
The heavily guarded Serena Hotel came under attack in the early evening. The Taliban claims four militants using Kalashnikov rifles and grenades penetrated the outer barricade.
The Department of Foreign Affairs says it has confirmed the safety of all its embassy staff in Kabul. But at least one American is said to be dead from the blast, so the Taliban weren't after Australian blood alone; but Western blood in general.
