Iran Heat's Up!

January 24, 2008.
In breaking news, Iran's leaders, led by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have vowed to press on with Tehran's nuclear work, regardless of any new United Nations sanctions. Surprisingly, or maybe not so, this comes merely one day after the world powers agreed to a rough outline for a new resolution.
Ahmadinejad spoke to a Iranian student news agency yesterday and made sure to continue his anti-Western sentiment.
"The Iranian nation has chosen its path and will continue with it," Ahmadinejad said. Furthermore, he continued by saying that any such "illegal behaviour" by Western powers ... "will not divert the Iranian nation from its path."
Bizarrely, these quotes follow some diplomatic success, which only serves to illustrate that Ahmadinejad is following his own path. Even if that means neglecting the decision, made only yesterday, for Iran to allow top UN nuclear monitors to visit the site, for the first time, in what was seen as a gesture of transparency about the disputed atomic program.
